Your Guide to a hassle-free end of Tenancy

This guide is designed to help you achieve a smooth and stress-free conclusion to your tenancy. At the end of your lease, a property inspection will be conducted to assess the property's condition. As a tenant, your responsibility is to return the property in the same state as it was when your tenancy began, accounting for reasonable wear and tear.

We highly recommend that all tenants attend the final inspection, which will occur at or shortly after the property has been vacated. Your property manager will contact you to schedule a mutually convenient time for this inspection.

Please be aware that if the property fails to meet the required standards, neither the landlord nor the landlord's agent is obligated to provide you with an opportunity to address any outstanding issues after the property has been vacated.

To ensure a successful final inspection and avoid any unnecessary complications, we suggest the following:

  • Consider hiring one of our recommended cleaners (listed below) to assist with the exit clean.
  • Follow the cleaning checklist and provide a copy to your cleaner. This highlights common issues often overlooked by tenants.
  • If you keep pets at the property, arrange for professional carpet steam cleaning and flea treatment.
  • Return all keys provided to you during your tenancy.
  • Attend the final inspection, if possible, to minimise miscommunication.
  • Review the property’s condition against the initial inspection and address discrepancies before the final inspection.

In addition, to ensure a smooth final inspection, take these important steps:

  • Book your move-out with building management (if applicable)
  • Arrange for disconnection of utilities in advance
  • Provide your property manager with your forwarding address or include this in your vacate notice
  • Redirect your mail to your new address
  • Make sure your rent is paid up to and including the vacate date
