The background
Matt Hayson and Rita Lopresti’s mid-August auction of 52 Clayton Street, Balmain saw the beautifully refurbished tri-level 1920s weatherboard home fetch an impressive $2.695m under the hammer. Matt comments, “To make sure the property really made an impression we had it painted, newly carpeted and styled for marketing and inspections. The owner was living overseas at the time so we project managed all the works so she didn’t have to worry about a thing. We conducted private one-on-one inspections as per COVID requirements and kept her fully informed as to what was happening in the market.”
Strategies we employed in this campaign
Given the pent-up demand among buyers, we first employed an off-market strategy targeting our database – which is where the ultimate buyer actually came from – then proceeded with the auction campaign. The auction was brought forward due to the high level of interest, with 28 contracts issued. In the end the property sold after just 20 days on market which really highlights the intense demand for great family homes of this calibre.
