ART MONTH KICKS OFF FOR 2021

March sees the return of our annual Art Month event, kicking off with the return of our much-loved children’s colouring competition. Last year’s competition ran just as we went into lockdown so it limited the opportunity for many kids to enter, so this year we’re making it bigger and better!
The initiative gives kids in our community a chance to show off their creative talents and see their handiwork displayed around our neighbourhoods. Budding artists are invited to design the artwork for our SOLD stickers. This will be the competition’s sixth year and we’re excited to see what the kids come up with.
Samantha Elvy is passionate about the positive impact the initiative brings to our community. “Not only do children love seeing their work displayed on our signboards but it encourages them to explore their creativity associated with their surroundings. We can’t wait to see what our highly imaginative local kids dream up – the standard is quite incredible,” comments Samantha.
Director Danny Cobden agrees, saying “It’s great to see the enthusiasm of the kids in our neighbourhoods in demonstrating their impressive artistic skills. We genuinely love seeing our signboards adorned with sold stickers created by the local community.”
Director Matthew Hayson enthuses, “Of all the things we do in the community, this initiative is without question the one that gets the most attention. Everybody adores seeing the kids’ artwork and I constantly have people in the area and across our industry commenting on the level of talent and creativity of these budding local artists.”
The competition will run throughout March with the winners announced in the first week of April. Children aged 12 and under are invited to enter and be in the running for one of the fantastic prizes within three age categories. This year we’re having a People’s Choice Award where you can vote by scanning the QR code on the windows of our office. The entries with the most votes will have their design showcased on a SOLD sticker on Cobden & Hayson’s signboards.
