WE’RE PROUD LONG-TIME SUPPORTERS OF BALMAIN JUNIOR RUGBY

Supporting our community has always been an integral part of the Cobden & Hayson ethos and this particularly applies to getting behind our young locals and the stars of tomorrow.

We’re proud supporters of Balmain Junior Rugby. Since its inception in 2011 the club has gone from strength to strength, becoming a force to be reckoned with in the Inner West. Their values closely align with our own here at C&H so there’s a great synergy between our two organisations. Like us, they’re all about teamwork, strong communication, resilience and respect. Importantly, they promote inclusiveness and ensure all players enjoy the game while developing key skills that help establish a strong foundation for life.

Sponsorship Manager Rob Marsden comments, “Our club is 100% volunteer run so the community is our lifeblood. Cobden & Hayson has been our major sponsor since 2011 and their support allows us to keep our registration fees very low and our equipment up to date, including a new scrum machine that our big forwards just love pushing around! They even made a special donation in 2019 which we then donated to Belo village in Fiji as part of an U10s rugby tour.

Our club really is part of the local fabric. Indulging in a sideline sausage while Balmain scores another try against our cross-town rivals Petersham is quite the weekend tradition and it’s great to get the kids interested in the game from an early age. After a stop-start season last year we’re thankfully set to return to the competition as normal, aside from the standard COVID check in and social distancing.”

Balmain Rugby has teams across all junior ages for boys and girls wanting to pull on the black and gold, starting with U6s and developing through to U15s. Mini Wolves (U6-U9s) play at St Lukes Park Concord on Saturday mornings while Junior Wolves (U10s and up) play at Leichhardt Oval No. 2 on Sunday mornings. The club is also part of the representative pathway to Sydney University through its Junior Player Program, which commences at U10s and offers opportunities to play Representative Rugby.
