Cobden & Hayson is once again delighted to get behind the annual Christmas gift drive. This year we’re helping a wonderful local Balmain business, Nutie, to pay it forward, with all five of our offices jumping on board to assist. For those who haven’t had the pleasure of sampling their fare and famous donuts, Nutie makes delicious gluten-free vegan treats of the finest quality.

Traditionally, every Christmas Eve they deliver sweet surprises to people less fortunate as well as nurses and doctors working over the holidays. The Nutie team really drives community spirit and they’ve been so touched by everyone’s generosity over this past year that they’re endeavouring to maximise their efforts and bring even more joy with a little help from the community.

This year they’ve elected to deliver to patients and staff at the Sydney Children’s Hospital, Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and homeless shelters in the CBD. Your donation will pay for Christmas cakes, treats and savoury items at cost price from Nutie, who will also be providing gift hampers to local families in need all through December.

Nutie owner Sina enthuses, “After the year we’ve all had there are more people than ever in need. I love being part of our community and making a positive change is something I find really motivating. Our whole family always takes part in the drive and over the years neighbours, friends and local businesses started getting in touch to see if they could help, like the local bookshop which has given us children’s books. It’s often people wanting to teach their kids about the importance of giving back at Christmas, which is a wonderful gesture – the holidays really should be about taking care of others.

If anyone wants to get involved, we’re having an open day on 12th December from 10am-3pm where they can come along and make donations and pack hampers. You can also message us to anonymously nominate families in need. We’ve already received almost 100 requests for hampers for neighbours or friends as people are really doing it tough this year.”

To contribute to the drive go to Nutie. Donations are set at $10 and you can add as many as you like. They also welcome donations of children’s gifts (only new ones due to COVID regulations), Christmas cards, hygiene items for the homeless shelter (Balmain Community Pharmacy will offer packs at cost price) or monetary donations for Christmas hampers in store or via the website. You can also drop off donations, gifts or toys to any Cobden & Hayson office.
