DRUMMOYNE – A PLACE TO ENJOY WINTER

The cooler months are perfect for exploring Drummoyne and discovering the secret treasures and celebrated landmarks that make our bayside suburb such a dynamic place. Food-loving, family friendly and blessed with beautiful scenery and acres of waterfront parkland, Drummoyne is the place to be for winter fun.

Jump on a Vivid Cruise at Drummoyne Sailing Club wharf and trip the light fantastic, get active and soak up the views at the annual Bay Run event in August or, if you’re feeling daring, take a ferry ride to Cockatoo Island for the Haunted History Night Tour.

Weekends are action-packed down at the Oval. Saturdays you’ll see the Dirty Reds rugby team getting mucky on the pitch and our AFL team the Canada Bay Cannons always attract a good turnout and an upbeat vibe on Sundays. Grab a coffee and watch the games unfold.

Shopping is, of course, a great winter pursuit. Spend the day bargain hunting at the Birkenhead Point Outlet Centre with more than 120 premium brand outlet stores all under one roof or explore Victoria Road’s design emporiums for some interior inspiration. Channel cosy cabin vibes and pick up a snuggle-worthy rug and some velvety cushions for winter warmth.

Winter is also the season for eating and Drummoyne hosts more than its fair share of fantastic restaurants, from fine dining with a view at Ecco Ristorante to Italian bistros and Greek street food to our favourite local Lebanese, Kadmus. For a meal you’ll never forget, Umii Modern Izakaya at 152 Lyons Road serves up innovative Japanese food that looks almost too good to eat (or at least post a snap on Insta before you do!). Try the sake explosion with seafood to warm the cockles.

Salt Meats Cheese at 125 Victoria Road offers more than just savoury delights with the famous Nutella Bomb pizza the perfect winter feel-good dessert. If you’re in the mood for seafood, duck into Ocean Foods at 154 Lyons Road. It’s an Inner West institution selling only the freshest fish as well as old school classics. It’s best eaten outside watching the world go by, just rug up before you go and then burn off the calories on the Bay Run.
